The most important step is to get that domain name registered. Whether it's a .com, .net, .org, .ca, .biz, .tv, .info, chances are if you've thought of a name that's unique and will stick in people's minds, someone else has beaten you to it. Carefully consider the names you've selected, and when you're ready, we would suggest using the following method:

Start by doing a simple search to see if you get a "return", or "hit" on the name you actually want. You can use Google's™ search engine below, then simply type in the name you want to search on in the address space in your browser. Type the name in lower case letters with no spaces. Don't forget to add the .com or other extension. When you're done, press ENTER on your computer keyboard. Write down all the names you don't get "hits" on (that don't open an actual web page). Once you've completed your search, you can either minimize the window or close it entirely to return to this page.

Google

If you don't get a return on any of the names you've searched on, you're still not home free. You're going to have to perform a search using one of the following registrars:

1) For .biz, .com, .edu, .info, .int, .museum, .net, or .org domains click on the Internic button to the left.
2) For .ca domains click on the CIRA button.

Clicking on the either of these buttons will open a new browser window that will also transport you to either the world wide web domain name service or the Canadian Internet Registration Authority. This is the BEST way to search for a domain name. It's completely secure in that the searches you do aren't logged anywhere, and the people that run the sites are publicly funded (not private firms). Here are a couple of useful tips:

Tip #1 A lot of domain name registrars offer search engines to help you determine whether-or-not your name is already a web presence, however, you could wind up compromising your efforts by using them (after all they are privately run companies, a lot of whom are in the business of SELLING domain names). We're NOT suggesting for a minute that one of these registrar's would scoop your name, but why take the chance and risk losing your own brainy idea?.

Tip #2 Don't use a name that someone else may already be using with another extension. For instance, you could register DELL®.BIZ and if you happened to be into selling computers you'd wind up with a nasty legal problem just as you would if you decided to register a domain using the name of an existing company or individual that doesn't yet have a presence on the world wide web. The latest idea to hit the web is a service offered by some domain registrars. When a company or individual fails to renew their domain name, that name is "removed" or de-listed. Some registrars offer their customers the opportunity to capture that de-listed domain. This is NOT a good idea, as the company may have registered legal rights to that name, and just because they've decided to opt out of maintaining a web presence doesn't mean they've gone out of business. If they have gone out of business, then you're liable to wind up receiving a whole host of emails and telephone calls from creditors and/or disgruntled customers. There are companies who list legitimate domain names for sale, however. If you want, email us and we'll point you in the direction of one of the better of these listing agencies. Be prepared to spend BIG BUCKS to use one of these services though because not only will you have to pay a commission, you'll have to deal with the individual that actually thought up the name and is looking to capitalize on his idea.

So, now that you've completed the search and found the perfect name to suit your business, click on the link to the left marked Register. Fill out and submit the form. We'll contact you within thirty minutes and upon completion of payment arrangements, your domain name will be captured for your exclusive use.

Once your name's registered, you can explore the other options presented at the left. Find out about our Design service, Maintenance, Parking, and Hosting packages. We've only recently introduced our Proofing service for those foreign customers that wish to expand their presence into English-speaking markets.
